Andrea Vonny Lee

Andrea Vonny Lee, (she/her), Oklahoma native and descendant of Freedman, grew up in Richmond, CA. Her career spans 25+ years as a performer, choreographer, dance educator, and global arts advocate. Educational accomplishments include B.A. Dance Performance & Choreography, Physical Education Teaching Credential, M.A. Secondary Education; and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration. Dr. Lee’s works have been presented by Black Choreographer’s Festival, San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival; African American Shakespeare Company, Nuba Dance Theater, SFSU, and Dimensions Dance Theater. Andrea is a recipient of a California Arts Council Artist-in-Residency, Philanthropic Ventures Foundation grant, and Oakland Cultural Arts Community Service Award. As founder and CEO of Cultural Links, Andrea works to bring equity to global education and study abroad for students and community and has personally led 15+ cultural heritage tours to Ghana, Benin, and Cuba. Lee wrote, “African Ontology to inform Transformational Learning” which appears in the book, Equity-Driven, High Achievement: Assessment of Student Learning and Development. Andrea’s recent work, “Ain’t No Turnin’ Back,” is a 10-act musical theater production about the life of Araminta Harriet Ross Tubman Davis which premiered in 2019 at the National Theater in Accra, Ghana.
