I am Thu Banh Perry, a community development and organizational development specialist for over two decades. I facilitate opportunities for social and economic inclusion for marginalized groups, so their voices are heard and they can have a good quality of life and thrive.

Striving to create a just and an equitable society, where people can live with dignity and joy, Thu Banh Perry, founder and principal of Ascension Community Development LLC, is a community development and organizational development consultant with 20+ years of experience in nonprofit management, affordable housing development, and communications.

Skills include, but are not limited to:

      1. project design, management, and reporting
      2. community engagement and participatory planning
      3. training design and facilitation, especially leadership development
      4. meeting design and facilitation, especially community meetings, retreats, and strategic planning

Born in Bac Lieu, Vietnam and transplanted to Savannah, GA at the age of one, Thu has been a resident of Oakland, CA since 1989. She is a proud product of the public school system, after which Thu went on to receive a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. While at Yale she studied abroad at The University of Chile in Santiago exploring social and economic development issues in Chile. Thu then earned an MBA with an emphasis in real estate from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. She is also a certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist and Restorative Justice Circle Keeper.

In her free time, Thu enjoys cooking, dancing, hiking, and exploring local and distant treasures.
