Striving to create a just an equitable society, where people can live thrive with dignity joy, Thu Banh Perry, founder principal of Ascension Community Development LLC, is a community development organizational development specialist with 20+ years of experience in nonprofit management, affordable housing development, and communications. Skills include, but are not limited to:

Born in Bac Lieu, Vietnam transplanted to Savannah, GA at the age of one, Thu has been a resident of Oakland, CA since 1989. She is a proud product of the public school system, after which Thu went on to receive a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. While at Yale she studied abroad at The University of Chile in Santiago exploring social economic development issues in Chile. Thu then earned an MBA with an emphasis in real estate from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. She is also a certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist and Restorative Justice Circle Keeper. In her free time, Thu enjoys cooking, dancing, hiking, exploring local distant treasures.
