Thu Banh is a community development and organizational development specialist with 20 years of experience in the following areas: 1) project design, management, and reporting; 2) community engagement; 3) participatory planning; 4) training design and facilitation, especially leadership development; 5) meeting design and facilitation, especially community and staff meetings; 6) relationship building and ongoing communication with staff/consultants and diverse project stakeholders; 7)survey and focus group design, data collection/facilitation, and data analysis; 8) community research and evaluation; 9) policy recommendation development; 10) event planning; and 11) written and verbal presentations to clients including elected officials and community groups.
Born in Bac Lieu, Vietnam and transplanted to Savannah, GA at the age of one, Thu has been a resident of Oakland, CA since 1989. She is a proud product of the public school system, after which Thu went on to receive a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. While at Yale she studied abroad at The University of Chile in Santiago exploring social and economic development issues in Chile. Thu also earned an MBA with an emphasis in real estate from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. In her free time, Thu enjoys good food, dancing, tennis, hiking, and exploring local treasures.
